Joe is a filmmaker in Los Angeles working in comedy television, film, music videos, commercials, and documentary.

      Stakun has directed pilot presentations for Comedy Central and TruTV.  In 2018 Stakun directed the Adult Swim special “Mother May I Dance with Mary Jane’s Fist” starring Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Artemis Pebdani, and Jimmi Simpson. His 2009 documentary “I Love My Bicycle: The Story of FBM” was released and screened in 20 cities around the world.

        Stakun started editing under Bob Odenkirk on IFC’s “The Birthday Boys” and went on to edit several popular comedy series, pilots, and segments for HBO, A24, Amazon, Fox, Absolutely Productions, MTV, Comedy Central and The Lonely Island. In 2019 Stakun edited Tim and Eric’s Purple Boys which won several awards including a Youtube Streamy for Best Branded Content Series.  The campaign was later the subject of a Panel at Cannes Film Festival.

        Joe has directed music videos for Modest Mouse, Future Islands, The Bird and the Bee, and Pissed Jeans. His 2017 Ok-Go parody video for AJJ’s “Goodbye Oh Goodbye” became a Vimeo Staff Pick, and in a tweet Youtube declared it “The greatest music video ever made.” His 2018 Pissed Jeans video for “The Bar is Low” was featured in an article on The New Yorker (.com).

Stakun grew up outside Philadelphia riding Freestyle BMX.  He’s appeared on The Eric Andre Show, Pound House, and occasionally performs around LA’s alternative comedy venues.
